Mainstage III: 
Messiah Part II and
​Part III

Part II of Handel’s Messiah confronts the Passion scriptures of Christ while Part III celebrates the Resurrection and everlasting life. Though not performed as often as Messiah Part I at Christmastime, both of these sections are filled with even more of Handel’s rousing choruses and powerful solos, all performed by Chorale soloists. The group will be accompanied by orchestra, organ, and harpsichord, joined by the
First Lutheran Church Choir, directed by
Marita Wolgast.

Mainstage IV: 
Earth, Wind, Fire 
​& Water

The music to accompany the themes of earth’s elements, Earth, Wind, Fire & Water is rich and varied, with styles ranging from serious a capella to pop and Broadway. Live poetry from a Chorale member will introduce each section.

Mainstage II:
Saint-Saëns Christmas Oratorio and the John Leavitt's Hodie! Cantata

Two exuberant works for the Christmas Season: French composer and organist Saint-Saëns’ stirring Christmas Oratorio featuring harp, strings, organ and Chorale soloists. The Chorale will also perform the contemporary cantata Hodie! by John Leavitt with percussion, strings and piano.

Mainstage I:
​Peace and Unity for All Nations

Expressing in music our collective longing for peace and unity around the world, this concert will be performed in partnership with the Cedar Rapids Community Orchestra, highlighting each ensemble’s own selections. Pieces combining forces of both groups include several patriotic songs like Battle Hymn of the Republic and several movements from Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare.
