GYEHYUN JUNG
Soprano Gyehyun Jung, from South Korea, is currently pursuing a DMA in Voice Performance at the University of Iowa School of Music, where she studies with Stephen Swanson. Jung is a graduate of Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she earned a MM in Voice Performance under the directions of Patricia Wise and Mary Ann Hart. Favorite past roles include Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos), Despina (Così fan tutte), Violetta (La Traviata) (cover), Gilda (Rigoletto), Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance), Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), and Silverpeal (Impresario). Her partial roles include the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf dem Naxos), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), and Marie (La fille du regiment). Active as a concert artist, she has appeared in Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore and Mozart’s Coronation Mass with the Chamber Singers of Iowa City, Vivaldi’s Gloria in D Major with the Central Iowa Symphony and with the Grinnell Oratorio Society, Mozart's Great Mass in c minor, Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore, and Schubert's Mass in G major with the IU Symphony Orchestra.
