Jazz, Inc. is a select vocal jazz ensemble featuring 6–12 auditioned singers from the Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale. From sophisticated a cappella arrangements to energetic performances backed by a rhythm section, the ensemble explores a wide range of vocal jazz styles and traditions.
Originally founded in the mid-1990s under the direction of Tom Lippert and later led by Rich Hoffman, Jazz, Inc. has been revived to carry its tradition of exceptional vocal jazz forward in the Cedar Rapids community.
Today, Jazz, Inc. is directed by Hunter Moore, a Luther College graduate and alumnus of the nationally acclaimed School for Music Vocations. During his time at Luther, Hunter sang with the renowned Nordic Choir and led the college’s Vocal Jazz Ensemble. At the School for Music Vocations, he studied and was mentored by Grammy-nominated arranger and composer Jeremy Fox and Tobi Crawford.
An award-winning composer and arranger, Hunter’s work has been published through Sheet Music Plus and Anchor Music. He is passionate about bringing people together through music and is excited to build on Jazz, Inc.’s legacy while creating a new chapter for vocal jazz in Cedar Rapids.
