“Some Enchanted Evening” a fundraising event for the Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale will be held onSaturday, April 1, 6:00-9:00 PM, at the Hotel Kirkwood Atrium, 7725 Kirkwood Blvd. SW, Cedar Rapids. The evening will include dinner and entertainment provided by individual members of the Chorale,Young at Harp and Iowa Accordion Club. A silent auction including gift certificates, sports equipment, gardening items, jewelry, hand-crafted treasures and more will be held. Tickets are $50 per person and $90 per couple. They are available from Concert Chorale members, online at crchorale.org, and at the door. Proceeds from the gala will support the on-going musical and educational activities of the Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale. The Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale aims to promote choral music appreciation and develop musicianship by performing a broad repertoire of music while providing youth and community outreach opportunities. This month we wanted to introduce you to Stephanie Michalicek, our Concert Chorale Vice President! Stephanie is a Cedar Rapids native who is extremely passionate about music and the arts. She currently works as the COO of Heuer Publishing, a play and musical publishing company that has been around Cedar Rapids since 1928. She also runs Michalicek Studios where she works as a private vocal teacher. Stephanie works with Cedar Rapids Opera Theater as a production manager. She has worked on South Pacific and will be working with the casts of Vavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci in upcoming months. Stephanie has her Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from Lawrence University, her Masters of Music in Vocal Performance: Opera from the University of Missouri- Columbia, and has language intensive credits from Universite de Montpellier in Monpellier, France and Scuola Leonardo da Vinci in Florence, Italy. She is a proud member and alumnae chapter president of Delta Gamma. Stephanie lives in Cedar Rapids with her spouse, Taylor Fiser, two dogs (both Pomeranians) Fiero and Oz, and a cat, Persephone (lovingly referred to as “Kitten”). She loves attending live concerts and musicals, can honk her nose like a clown, loves to laugh, and lives off of black coffee! The Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale and Artistic Director Gerald Kreitzer will perform their third concert of the season on Saturday, February 18, 7:30 PM, at Immaculate Conception Church, 857 3rd Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids. This Masterworks Concert will feature “Requiem” by Gabriel Faure and “Missa Brevis, K. 192” by W. A. Mozart. Soloists for Faure’s “Requiem” will be Dr. Bradley Barrett, prominent conductor, singer, and teacher, and Ms. Amy Farley, assistant choral director at Washington High School. The compositions will be accompanied by a string orchestra. Mozart’s “Missa Brevis K. 192” was written in 1774 in Salzburg, the culmination of Mozart’s “youthful” masses. The melody used in the Credo later became a theme of Mozart’s “Symphony No. 41, Jupiter.” Tickets for the concert are $12 in-advance and $15 at-the-door. All students, elementary through college age, are free admission. Advance tickets may be purchased at www.crchorale.org or from a Concert Chorale member.
